Yesterday was the 24th annual World Water Day – a UN-sponsored an event that aims to raise awareness of the importance of fresh water throughout the world. Each year focuses on a different theme relevant to the needs of people around the world related to water. 2016’s theme is ‘Water and Jobs,’ a theme that seeks to emphasize the importance of clean water in the everyday work of people everywhere. The UN has released the video below, which we highly encourage you to watch.
Though fresh, useable water is something we generally take for granted in Canada, there are many countries in the world that are without safe water to use for drinking, cooking, or sanitation. The next time you drink a glass of water, take a shower, use the toilet, or even clean your house, take a moment to appreciate what we have been given here in Canada, and how we can extend that gift to people in need here and abroad.
